Lake Mead Fishing

Finally purchased a Nevada fishing license. While there are few fishable waters here in Nevada, there are plenty of fish at Lake Mead. Lake Mead is known for its stripers (type of bass), large mouth, small mouth, and cats.

Kyle and myself headed up to the lake at 5am. As the sun rose up over the Arizona mountains, the bass and stripers started to rise.

After a few hours of fishing, we caught about 20 fish. 18 Stripers, 1 large mouth, and 1 small mouth. Nothing big, 12" max. They were hitting a chrome Krocodile 1/4oz like you wouldn't believe. Here's a few pictures from the trip.

Teton National Park and St. Anthony

Fished Jackson lake in Teton National Forest. Went with Rachels family and her uncle on a small boat around the lake. Fishing was really slow for such a huge lake!

Jackson Lake, way up in the mountains

Poles out but nothing going on

Nice looking Brook Trout that I caught illegally. I guess those signs around the river actually mean something.....

Went to St. Anthony with my bro-in-law Paul. He just got back from his mission and caught the first fish today. Here is a nice brown I pulled out of the river.

More Garnet Pics

High Mountain Fishing in the High Sierras

Went on my yearly backpacking trip a week ago and has a blast. Caught tons of fish and saw some beautiful scenery. Most of these are brook trout with some rainbows in there. One or two may be a golden? Not sure, but pretty none the less.

Fishing with my dad

My family was in town because Rachel and myself graduated. So, what better time to go fishing with my dad? We fished Henry's just above Ashton and also hit Chester Dam. Fishing was good, but not great. We caught about 15 rainbows in ashton, all of which were about 12-13". I caught a big ol Utah Sucker, that fought like a log. Meaning, it did nothing. My dad got to try out his new waders. I need to buy me some! All in all, pretty fun.

Last Saturday and a few other pics

Update: I went fishing last saturday in St. Anthony. I was going to call you Brent but I decided to go at midnight the night before! Woke up at 5 am, and I had to wait until the sun came up. When it finally did, I got this cool scene.

You can see the ripple in the water from a fish jump. The fish started jumping like crazy, but would not bite my lure. I have never seen so many fish jumping in a river, but didn't want anything to do with my lure. I noticed there was a hatch going on (stone fly?), and they knew exactly what they wanted. So, I drove to where the hatch wasn't, and I started catching fish.
Look at the red spots on this brown.

Little guy

Hooked this guy in the back, not sure how

Caught 3 nice sized rainbows in St. Anthony. This is the first time I have seen the rainbows here and they were all about 16"

Another bow

From Teton River trip, hooked a minnow accidentally!

Random Photo when the sky turned red because of a big fire outside of Rexburg

Planted fish, caught underneath the Asthton Bridge. They sell these lures at wal-mart in a 5 pack, for $4

Island Park Reservior - Hooked into one fish here, weather was bad

My Dad is coming into town for my graduation. We are going to be doing a bunch of fishing so more pictures to come!

TETON RIVER: July 15, 2010

Brent and myself fished the Teton River. Both of us caught a number Cutts, and I landed a few chubs too! Gotta love them chubs. Sorry, no pictures for this adventure unless Brent uploads his. A few weeks ago this river was overflowing, now it's down to a trickle.

New Lure "the bullet"

I landed 2 nice cutthroats (16-18 inch approximately) off of my new lure.

I carved it from cottonwood, drilled and put a weight in it, patched it up with wood filler, put in the eye ring screws, the split rings, the hooks, spray painted it, sealed it numerous times and BAM

I call it "the bullet"
